Big 12 Tournament Bracket Update: Oklahoma State Holds On, Beats Nebraska, 53-52

Oklahoma State defeated the Nebraska Cornhuskers, 53-52, in the first round of the 2011 Big 12 tournament. In the bracket, OSU was a No. 9 seed facing the No. 8 seed Huskers so this is also our first upset.

Oklahoma State jumped out to an early lead -- 24-11 at one point in the first half -- but as we expected Nebraska came back grinding it out. The Huskers shot under 25 percent in the first half but raised that number in the second half, especially in the first nine minutes when they broke out on an 18-8 run.

The Cowboys, though, hung on in the final minutes of the game. What scared Oklahoma State is that Keiton Page missed the first of a one-and-one off the front of the rim giving Nebraska the ball back with 16 seconds down one point. Page of course is money from the free throw sitting at 90 percent on the season.

The Huskers though couldn't convert as Lance Jeter turned it over. That sealed it -- 53-52 Oklahoma State.

Leading the way for Oklahoma State was Page, who shot 6-of-13 from the field and scored 16 points. For Nebraska is was Jeter who scored 17 points including 7 of 8 from the free-throw line. Both guys had a solid day and this game was about was close as everyone expected it to be with the Huskers entering the game as 1.5 point favorites.

That's one game down in the Big 12 tournament bracket. Oklahoma State will move on to play Kansas on Thursday morning.
