Former KU Football Coach Isn't Sure If Aqib Talib Ever Went To Class

Former Kansas Jayhawks CB Aqib Talib has been in hot water the last few weeks after he was allegedly involved in an incident that, according to police, had him and his mother shooting at a man. As many of you know, this isn't the first time Talib has been in trouble.

The St. Petersburg Times tries to put into context the number of incidents involving Talib and this quote caught my eye:

"He tries to do that whole street thing, but don't let that fool you," said former University of Kansas co-defensive coordinator Clint Bowen. "He's very smart. I don't think he ever went to a single class, but he still got a 2.7 (GPA) at Kansas."

Frankly, that's impressive. I remember skipping class a few times and it was hard to stay caught up just to maintain a respectable grade. But to rarely -- or ever -- going to class and skipp maintaining a 2.7 GPA is impressive.

That said, it's obviously not the best look for Kansas. That it's coming from a former coach on the team is even worse. This won't cause any investigations and many folks won't bat an eye because, well, this is life in big time college athletics.

But it is a little concerning that a former coach freely admits a former player rarely went to class.
