Xavier Henry's stay with the Memphis Grizzlies was rather short-lived. The former Kansas Jayhawk was the 12th overall selection in the 2010 NBA Draft, but he was traded to the New Orleans Hornets today in a three way deal that brought draft picks to the Philadelphia 76ers and big man Marreese Speights to replace Zach Randolph, who will be out for some time with a torn MCL.
Marc Stein writes, "Henry, 6-6 and 220 pounds, played in 38 games as a rookie last season in Memphis but has missed the start of this season with torn ligaments in his right ankle."
"We are delighted to welcome Xavier to our team and the New Orleans community," Hornets general manager Dell Demps said in a release Wednesday. "We hope Xavier will develop into a good basketball player that will contribute to the success of the New Orleans Hornets this season and into the future."
Henry averaged 4.3 points per game last season for the Grizzlies.
