The 2007 Kansas Jayhawks basketball team that advanced to the Elite 8 of that year's NCAA Tournament will be inducted to the Kansas Athletics Hall of Fame on Oct. 27 during homecoming weekend.
The 2007 squad was one of the best teams ever to play in Lawrence, going 33-5 overall and 14-2 in Big XII play. The Jayhawks won the 2007 Big XII Tournament and earned the No. 1 seed in the West Regional. Kansas dispatched Niagara, Kentucky and Southern Illinois during their run to the West Regional Final before losing to UCLA 68-55 in the Elite 8.
With no seniors on the team, Head coach Bill Self relied underclassmen like All-American Brandon Rush, Mario Chalmers and Julian Wright to lead the team. The experience from their 2007 tournament run gave the team an added advantage during their championship run next season in 2008.
Joining the 2007 basketball team in the Kansas Athletics Hall of Fame will be women's soccer standout Holly Gault and Track and Field All-American Egor Agafonov.
