The Kansas Jayhawks' men's basketball team will get two exhibition warmups before opening the season Nov. 9 against Southeast Missouri. The first of those tuneups comes Wednesday night, Oct. 30, against Emporia State at Allen Fieldhouse.
Bill Self's Jayhawks squad once again has high hopes this season. Kansas is the preseason No. 7 team in both the AP and USA Today Coaches polls, the highest of any Big 12 team in either poll.
Wednesday nights' game will provide the first glimpse of a team that has to replace departed stars Thomas Robinson and Tyshawn Taylor, who are both in the NBA. Jeff Withey, Perry Ellis, Travis Releford, Ben McLemore and Elijah Johnson are the projected starting five, though plenty of players should see time in the exhibition games.
Kansas will also host Washburn in an exhibition on Nov. 5. After the opener against SEMO, Kansas gets an early non-conference test against Michigan State on Nov. 13.
