The Kansas Jayhawks women's basketball team is No. 22 in the nation in the latest AP Top 25 after starting the season 3-0. It's the first time this season the Jayhawks have cracked the rankings.
The Jayhawks have wins over Idaho State, Southeast Missouri State and Wake Forest to start the year. They host Alabama A&M and play at Creighton this week. Big 12 play doesn't begin for Kansas until the new year with a Jan. 2 game against Kansas State.
Kansas is the last of six Big 12 teams in the Top 25, the highest of which is Baylor at No. 3. The Bears received one first-place vote. West Virginia is No. 12, Oklahoma is No. 13, Texas is No. 15 and Oklahoma State is No. 21. The Big 12's six ranked teams is more than any other conference.
Stanford is No. 1, followed by Connecticut, Baylor, Duke and Notre Dame to round out the top five.
