Four of the starters for the Jayhawks team that advanced to the Sweet Sixteen will return for the 2012-13 season.

The first preseason-top 25 poll from ESPN.com of the season was released and the Kansas Jayhawks women's basketball team received the No. 23 spot. While unranked in the Associated Press' opening poll, the Jayhawks were among the top vote-getters and also received the No. 25 spot on the USA Today Coaches' Poll.

Although the Jayhawks dominated their non-conference schedule during the 2011-12 season, they faltered when it came to Big 12 play and finished with an 8-10 record in conference play. Despite the fact that they were eliminated in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament with a 78-63 loss to Texas A&M, KU still got a spot in the NCAA Tournament with a No. 11 seed.

Kansas upset both No. 6 Nebraska and No. 3 Delaware to advance to the Sweet Sixteen, where it lost to the No. 2 Tennessee Volunteers. Four of the starters from that team will return for the 2012-13 season for the Jayhawks.

The season will begin for Kansas with a home game against Idaho State on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. CT.
