If there was any doubts that Kansas Citians loved their college basketball, Dennis Dodd of CBS has word that the region itself has been among the metropolitan leaders for viewership in the country. The Kansas Jayhawks bring an obvious high profile to the region, but the surge of the Missouri Tigers in Frank Haith's first season has provided another top ranked program to keep track of this season. In fact, the rivalry between the two as well as the subplot of Mizzou's exit for the SEC provides yet another storyline that boosts ratings.
Kansas City No. 4 in viewership in men's basketball games on ESPN this season. Only city in top five west of Mississippi.

Kansas State also plays a part locally since the WIldcats have been ranked this season as well. Even though the Cats have lost four of their last six, tomorrow's game against the Baylor Bears can bring them back into discussion for a solid seed in the NCAA Tournament. All things considered, the KC area has a lot of great college basketball to watch.
