The Texas Longhorns grabbed a No. 11 seed in the unveiling of the NCAA Tournament bracket tonight and that gave the Big 12 six teams overall vying for the national championship. The Longhorns will have to face the No. 6 Cincinnati Bearcats in the first round.
The Kansas Jayhawks and Missouri Tigers were already understood to be in the tournament. The same can be said for the Baylor Bears and the Kansas State Wildcats. The Iowa State Cyclones also likely felt very good about their chances and they landed a No. 8 seed opposite UConn. It was Texas that represented the real bubble entry for the Big 12.
Every other team in the Big 12 had a losing record, so any team that was a possibility for the conference made it in. Here are the official Big 12 match-ups for the NCAA Tournament:
No. 2 Kansas vs. No. 15 Detroit
No. 2 Missouri vs. No. 15 Norfolk State
No. 8 Iowa State vs. No. 9 UConn
No. 11 Texas vs. No. 6 Cincinnati
