The Kansas Jayhawks (27-6, 16-2 Big 12) will be the closing act of the 2012 NCAA Tournament's "second round" (which is the actual first round, with the four Dayton, Ohio play-in games becoming the "first round") on Friday evening when they play Detroit, winners of the Horizon League Tournament.
The opening game will mark Kansas' fifth entry into the NCAA Tournament as a No. 2 seed (seeding began in 1979), most recently as 2003. 2012 marks the 23rd consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance for Kansas, and their 41st overall.
