The Kansas St. Wildcats are preparing for their first game in the 2012 NCAA Tournament, but on Tuesday, some news came out that could bode extremely well for the Wildcats, should they advance.

The Syracuse Orange head into the tournament as the No. 1 seed in the East Region, and will face off with the No. 8 seed Wildcats should Kansas State defeat the No. 9 Southern Miss. Golden Eagles on Thursday.

According to the official Syracuse athletics website, center Fab Melo will miss the NCAA Tournament due to undisclosed eligibility issues. This could be huge for Kansas State and is undeniably a terrible blow for the Orange.
