Sports Illustrated’s George Dohrmann is predicting the West region for the 2012 NCAA Tournament and unlike many, he’s actually going with the No. 1 seed. In this case, Michigan State is the top seed and Tom Izzo is a strong name to consider this time of year given the record of the Spartans’ coach. However, the Missouri Tigers seem lost in Dohrmann’s process.
Dohrmann writes, “It is a boring choice, but there isn’t a team in the region with the same combination of talent, experience and coaching acumen. When in doubt, pick the team coached by Tom Izzo.”
The Tigers were a 30 win team from a power conference like the Big 12 and are red hot right now after a strong run through the conference tournament that demolished the three-seeded Baylor Bears. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top in the West.
