Former Jayhawk Jared Haase Is New UAB Coach

Former Kansas Jayhawks standout Jared Haase has been named a the new head coach at UAB replacing Mike Davis who held the job for six seasons. Haase graduated in 1997 and has been a part of Roy Williams' coaching staff for the last 13 years. Haase had been an assistant coach, director of basketball operations and head coach of the Tar Heels' JV program.

This is the second time that the Blazers have reached out to an established program for a head coach. Mike Davis was the former head coach at Indiana where he replaced Bob Knight but was only able to take UAB to the NCAA Tournament once.

Haase has been a part of two national championship teams at Carolina and won three consecutive conference championships at Kansas as a player for Williams. Haase will hope to bring that winning mentality to the Blazers who finished 15-16 this season and lost in the quarterfinals of the Conference USA tournament.
