Kansas picked up a big recruit on Saturday in quarterback Montell Cozart. Cozart was named Kansas' Gatorade player of the year this past season.

The Kansas Jayhawks landed the Kansas Gatorade player of the year in quarterback Montell Cozart. In Cozart's junior season he passed for 2,448 yards and 31 touchdowns against just seven interceptions this past season, and led his school team to a 9-2 record en route to the 5A state quarterfinals.

Cozart is a threat to run and he rushed for 534 yards and seven touchdowns, plus he was named the 2011 East Kansas League Offensive Player of the Year. He also runs track and last week ran an impressive 22.43 second time in the 200 meters.

Cozart made his third visit to Kanas this weekend and decided on Saturday to pull the trigger and verbally commit to the Jayhawks. Cozart picked Kansas over offers he had from Minnesota, Illinois and Northern Illinois.
