Big 12 Basketball Tournament 2012: Missouri Earns First Round Bye

The Missouri Tigers earned the No. 2 seed in the 2012 Big 12 Conference Tournament. they will take on the winner of the Oklahoma State/Texas Tech winner from Wednesday night.

The Tigers won both matchps against Texas Tech including an 81-59 win on Saturday in the regular season finale. Kim English scored 20 points in that matchup as the Tigers hit 16 three-point baskets to rout the Red Raiders. Texas Tech suffered through a miserable season under new coach Billy Gillispie. The Red Raiders finished 1-17 in conference play with their lone win coming on February 11 against Oklahoma.

Missouri split the season series with Oklahoma State losing in late January to the Cowboys when they were ranked No. 2 in the country. The Tigers took care of business at home in the rematch but the Cowboys have been riddled with injuries and could have a tough time with Texas Tech in the opening round.

During Saturday's loss to Kansas State, Cowboys' starting center Philip Jurick suffered a torn Achilles tendon which will sideline him for the remainder of the season. Freshman Le'Bryan Nash has missed three consecutive games with a fractured hand.
