Texas A&M successfully avenged a loss to the Sooners in the regular season finale with a 62-53 win in the first-round of the Big 12 Tournament. The Aggies will advance to play top seeded Kansas on Thursday.
David Loubeau finished with 15 points and nine rebounds while Khris Middleton added 15 points of his own and seven boards to lead A&M. The Aggies out rebounded the Sooners by a 36-26 count including 13 offensive rebounds. Elston Turner added 14 points while Ray Turner chipped in 12 off the bench.
Romero Osby scored 17 points to lead the Sooners. Sam Grooms finished with 13 points and seven rebounds while Andrew Fitzgerald added eight. Steven Pledger finished with just six points while going 2-8 from the field.
