In their first game in the 2012 Big 12 Championship tournament on Wednesday, the No. 1 seed Kansas Jayhawks are taking on the No. 9 seed Texas A&M Aggies. The Jayhawks are the favorites to claim the conference championship, although they are already safely 2012 NCAA Tournament-bound. The Jayhawks took some time to warm up, but are now cruising, as they enter halftime leading by a score of 40-28.
The Aggies jumped out to a brief 21-20 lead past the halfway point in the first half, but the Jayhawks finally opened a bit of breating room and took a nine-point lead with 5:00 remaining in the half, which they would just keep adding to.
Elijah Johnson is leading all scorers with 15 points.
The winner of this game will go on to face No. 4 seed Baylor Bears in the semifinals on Friday.
