The Kansas Jayhawks entered the 2012 Big 12 Championship Tournament on Thursday as the No. 1 seed. They had their eyes firmly set on a conference championship as they took on the No. 9 seed Texas A&M Aggies in the tourney's second game. They are one step closer to realizing that goal following an 83-66 win over the Aggies.
The Jayhawks opened up a sizable lead in the final five minutes of the first half and entered halftime leading by a score of 40-28. They would continue to keep their distance in the second half as they coasted to the win.
Elijah Johnson had a career game for the Jayhawks, leading all scorers with 26 points and picking up three rebounds, four assists and two steals.
The Jayhawks will now go on to face No. 4 seed Baylor Bears in Friday's semifinal round.
