They will not all play at the same time, obviously, and Montell Cozart might have to wait his turn. But in time, the three-star quarterback who just committed to Kansas will get his chance to shine after giving a verbal to Charlie Weis and the Jayhawks football team. Cozart was named the Kansas Gatorade player of the year after throwing for 31 touchdowns and was garnering serious interest from several others.
“Cozart had scholarship offers from Minnesota, Northern Illinois and West Virginia and was receiving serious interest from at least half a dozen more BCS schools,” writes Matt Tait of KU Sports. “He credits his relationship with Grunhard for making the move to KU happen.”
"I think coach Grunhard helped get my name to the Kansas coaches," Cozart told JayhawkSlant.com back in February. "So they were one of the first schools to send me mail. I know they are getting good transfers in there, and I think they will do good things in the Big 12."
Dayne Crist will take the reins this season, while Jake Heaps and Turner Baty will vie for time after that. Cozart might have to sit and learn for a while, but bright things should come from this future Jayhawk.
