2012 NBA Mock Draft: Thomas Robinson To Charlotte Bobcats (Once Again)

Anthony Davis to the New Orleans Hornets is the sure thing. It's pretty much every selection afterward that becomes a bit hazy. The Charlotte Bobcats hold the No. 2 pick in the 2012 NBA Draft and they could go in a number of directions. Thomas Robinson only hopes to be that selection.

The Kansas forward is considered one of the top available selections in this draft class, but he's competing with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist of Kentucky, Bradley Beal of Florida and Andre Drummond of UConn. The latest mock from Jonathan Givony of Yahoo! has Robinson as the winner of the sweepstakes to be the first player taken after Davis. He writes:

Although the Bobcats and their fans will certainly be disappointed not to end up with Davis after the miserable season they endured, they should get over that fairly quickly when they realize they are about to add an important piece to their roster who is arguably more ready to compete from Day 1 than Davis.

Robinson will bring a blend of strength, athleticism and competitiveness that the team sorely lacked this season inside the paint. He will pair well with 2011 draft pick Bismack Biyombo to form one of the longest and most explosive interior frontcourts - certainly defensively - in the NBA.

Robinson averaged nearly 18 points and 12 rebounds per game last year for the Jayhawks, taking them all the way to the NCAA title game in the process.
