Kicker Alex Mueller To Transfer Closer To Home

After an underwhelming freshman season, Kicker Alex Mueller is reportedly transferring from Kansas to be closer to his childhood home in Grapevine, Texas.

Mueller, a 5'8 165 pound kicker, went 34-35 on extra point attempts but only 3-8 on field goals for the Jayhawks last year.

He was a two-star recruit considered the fifth best kicker in the country as a high school senior, as he also received interest from Baylor, Florida, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Kansas State.

In a statement to the press, Mueller said he enjoyed his time in Lawrence but wanted to return to Texas. Of course, with Charlie Weis taking over at Kansas in place of Turner Gill, the coach who recruited him, it's hard to know from the outside whether this is really a case of home-sickness or whether Weis is cleaning house.
