Jacque Vaughn Among Final Candidates For Orlando Head Coach

Former Kansas Jayhawks point guard Jacque Vaughn may have moved a step closer to becoming the head coach of the Orlando Magic on Sunday after Brian Shaw withdrew his name from consideration for the job. Shaw is rumored as a candidate in Portland and Orlando's rebuilding process probably suits someone like Vaughn who has been with San Antonio the last few seasons better.

Another candidate, Golden State Warriors assistant Michael Malone, is also reportedly out of the running leaving just Vaughn, Utah Jazz assistant Jeff Hornacek and former Pistons coach Michael Curry as the other known candidates.

Vaughn spent his last three seasons as a player with the Spurs under Gregg Popovich. After retiring Vaughn joined Popovich's staff. Malone was thought to be the other frontrunner but if he is out of the running this may be Vaughn's job to lose.
