Bill Self Comments On Kansas Jayhawks Basketball Schedule

Kansas head coach Bill Self has addressed the recently released men's basketball non-confernece schedule, which may have fewer powerhouse programs than usual on the slate. The Jayhawks will play two Big Ten power programs in Ohio State and Michigan State. They face the Spartans at a neutral site in their first test of the season and then head to Columbus just before Christmas for the back-leg of a home-and-home series with the Buckeyes.

Self indicated that the schedule is not full of the traditional programs as a preemptive plan to prepare for playing with eight freshmen on the roster. Via KU Sports.com:

"I think it is going to be a really good RPI schedule," KU coach Bill Self said. "I don't think there are as many traditional names on it as we have had the last couple of years.

"It's probably a schedule that was done knowing that we also have eight freshmen," Self added. "This is probably the youngest team we have had. (The schedule is) by no means easy, but we certainly didn't load up like we did last year with traditional names."

The young Jayhawks first regular season game will be in Lawrence on November 9 against Southeast Missouri State, hosting the start of the CBE Hall of Fame Classic.
