The Kansas Jayhawks took a 17-13 lead against the Northern Illinois Huskies head into the fourth quarter. James Sims scored on a 1-yard run for his second touchdown of the game.
Northern Illinois was up at halftime after erasing Kansas' second-quarter lead with a 10-play, 77-yard touchdown drive that ended with Akeem Daniels taking it in from 3 yards out. The third quarter was the first for the Huskies without a touchdown, so the Jayhawks' defense is holding up better after the break so far.
Kansas quarterback Dayne Crist has only completed 47 percent of his passes, but the Jayhawks have managed a balanced offensive attack with 158 rushing yards to go with 141 passing yards.
