The Miami Dolphins have signed former Kansas Jayhawks linebacker Mike Rivera, according to KUsports.com.
This will be the 26-year-old Shawnee native's second stint with Miami. He was a member of the Dolphins squad in 2010 and remained with the team until just before the start of the 2011 season. Rivera played two games with the New England Patriots this season, but failed to record a tackle.
Rivera began his NFL career signing with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent, and has spent time as a member of the practice squads of the Tennessee Titans and Green Bay Packers as well. In his senior season as a member of the Jayhawks, Rivera was an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention and finished third on the team with 79 tackles. He also recorded two sacks in his senior season and made a name for himself as one of the team's hardest hitters.
