Dezmon Briscoe definitely played well enough to earn a roster spot with the Washington Redskins this preseason. After the last round of NFL roster cuts, the former Kansas receiver was able to finally breathe easily knowing that he had made the final 53 man roster for Washington.
However, Briscoe said he had a tip that he was going to land with the team given the attention he had earned from head coach Mike Shanahan.
"On a personal level, getting to know each other," Briscoe said. "That helped out because when coach calls you in that means he likes you. That helped your self-esteem out a whole lot more knowing the head coach wants to get to know you a little better."
Briscoe should be able to help a newly rebuilt Redskins wide receiver corps. The team went all out to support their new quarterback Robert Griffin III this offseason with Josh Morgan and Pierre Garcon brought in as free agents.
Briscoe was a sixth round choice in the 2010 NFL Draft.
