After a ho-hum first quarter, Kansas State and Iowa State truly got the ball rolling with 28 total points scored in the second quarter as the halftime score puts the sixth-ranked Wildcats up 17-14 over the Cyclones.

Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein ended the first half scoring with a 6-yard touchdown run with 49 seconds remaining for the fourth lead change of the second quarter.

But Klein's touchdown was just the icing on a crazy quarter.

Iowa State quarterback Jared Barnett threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Shontrelle Johnson two seconds into the second quarter to give Iowa State their first lead, 7-3. Klein answered with a 2-yard touchdown run with 8:18 remaining in the half to give the Wildcats back the lead at 10-7.

With 7:21 remaining, Tremaine Thompson fumbled a punt return for the Wildcats, leading to a Cyclones recovery at the Wildcats 19-yard line. But then on the very next play, the Wildcats picked off Barnett to give the ball back to the Wildcats. Kansas State couldn't take advantage and on the Cyclones next possession, Barnett threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Ernst Brun, Jr. to give the Cyclones a 14-10 lead with 2:27 remaining.

That lead would prove to be short lived though, and Klein and Kansas State will look to add to their three-point advantage with the start of the third quarter.
