Texas Tech vs. Kansas State score update: Red Raiders lead Wildcats after 1st quarter

The Texas Tech Red Raiders struck first against the Kansas St. Wildcats in a battle of two Big 12 powers, one with national title aspirations and the other looking to get into the BCS dark horse conversation. The Red Raiders lead the Wildcats, 7-3, after the first quarter.

The 14th-ranked Red Raiders scored on a 32-yard touchdown pass to Eric Ward from Seth Doege with 11:46 remaining in the first quarter. After each team punted on their next possessions, the third-ranked Wildcats had a fumble return for a touchdown called back with less than two minutes remaining in the quarter, resulting in just a field goal.

Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein has been held in check so far with only 20 yards passing and -5 yards rushing on three carries. The star of the day so far has been Texas Tech quarterback Seth Doege, who has 112 yards passing on 12 for 18 and one touchdown.

The Red Raiders are looking to give the Wildcats their first loss of the season while the Wildcats try to remain undefeated and in the BCS championship game hunt.
