It's been a tale of two programs so far in 2012 for the state of Kansas, as the Kansas State Wildcats find themselves sitting atop the Big 12 standings, while the Kansas Jayhawks are in last place.
The Wildcats obliterated the Jayhawks on Saturday, winning 56-16, and highlighting the differences between the two programs. Kansas State clearly is a BCS contender, while Charlie Weis' Jayhawks are in full-on rebuild mode.
Kansas State will head to Iowa on Saturday to take on the Iowa State Cyclones, as the Wildcats look to improve to 3-0 in Big 12 play so far. In addition to defeating Kansas, Kansas State marched into Norman, Okla., and defeated the Oklahoma Sooners, 24-19.
The Wildcats' next big test will come on Oct. 20, when they head to West Virginia to take on the Mountaineers.
Kansas, meanwhile, will look for its first Big 12 win of the year on Saturday, when it hosts the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
