College football predictions: ESPN picks Kansas State over Baylor by 1 point

ESPN says the Wildcats' latest battle against a subpar Baylor squad will be closer than anyone realizes.

The latest round of college football predictions are out from ESPN columnist Will Harris and he believes the Kansas State versus Baylor match-up will be much closer than anyone realizes. In fact, Harris has the game almost as a potential upset, with K-State winning by just one point in a 38-37 win.

"Double digits is too much weight for a Baylor team that's found serious punch in its rushing attack in the form of thunder and lightning duo Glasco Martin and Lache Seastrunk," writes Harris. "Baylor may be 4-5, but the Bears are hungry, confident and ready to take it to the nation's top-ranked team. Kansas State is a tired team right now, and Collin Klein may have to add "last-minute comeback" to his Heisman résumé."

Collin Klein and company have been defeating opponents by a dozen or more all season even in subpar showings -- i.e. last week against TCU. It's hard to see them coming out so flat again and making it that close. That said, no one has taken Baylor for granted all season despite the team's poor record one year after Robert Griffin IIIl placed the Bears on the map.

A coach like Bill Snyder will make sure his team is ready to play and it's hard to believe Harris isn't just trying to pick a wild card to be able to say he was the only one who called it later.
