2012 BCS Standings: Notre Dame at No. 1, Kansas State at No. 6

The official standings are out and K-State is in better position than some polls would have you believe.

The official 2012 BCS Standings are out for another week after a full slate of college football on Saturday and the top teams held like everyone knew that they would. If the season were to end today, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Alabama Crimson Tide would play for the national championship. That said, the fight is not over yet, and Kansas State finds itself in a bit better position than some polls have them listed.

The Wildcats are considered the worst team with one loss in the country in a major conference if you look at the AP Top 25. The Associated Press has the Wildcats at No. 7 overall and at the back of the pack of the one-loss powers. However the BCS has them at No. 6, trailing only Georgia, Florida and Oregon.

Every team has to deal with the conference title game that lies ahead, so it will be interesting to see how things shake out if Alabama loses, for example. Kansas State has to deal with Texas on Saturday itself, and Mack Brown's team will be fighting for a chance to stay relevant this late in the season.
