2012 BCS Standings: Kansas State nearly assured of major bowl appearance

The Kansas State Wildcats are nearly a lock to claim a BCS spot in the college football postseason.

The BCS Standings are out after the weekend and Kansas State is at No. 2 after defeating yet another ranked opponent on Saturday. With their win over the Oklahoma State Cowboys, it's clear that the Wildcats are well on their way to winning the Big 12 and placing themselves firmly in a BCS bowl spot, even if they happen to lose near season's end.

Samuel Chi recently analyzed the BCS standings in Week 11 and came out certain of a few teams -- including Alabama and Kansas State. He writes:

"By winning two of their remaining three games, the Wildcats will clinch the Big 12 title and at worst a Fiesta Bowl berth. About the only way K-State would be shut out of its second BCS bowl appearance is if it goes 0-3 in its final three games ... not gonna happen."

No doubt that Bill Snyder will have his team focused and ready on the present task, but the future certainly looks bright as well. Another BCS bowl for the Wildcats only cement K-State's status as a national power under Snyder once again.
