Kansas State Wildcats guard Rodney McGruder was named the Big 12 Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
McGruder received the honors for his performance on Saturday against the George Washington Colonials, when Kansas State picked up its first road win in as many tries by the score of 65-62. McGruder scored 15 points while shooting 3-of-6 from the three-point line, and grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds. The senior played 39 of 40 possible minutes in the win.
He also recorded one assist and one steal in Saturday's game.
The 6'4 guard from Washington, D.C. also recorded 22 points and seven rebounds on Dec. 2, shooting 8-of-16 from the field in a win over South Carolina-Upstate.
McGruder's Wildcats are 7-1 on the young season under first-year head coach Bruce Weber. Their lone loss came against the No. 4 Michigan Wolverines. The Wildcats get another test this Saturday when they host the No. 14 Gonzaga Bulldogs.
