2012 Heisman Trophy announcement show time, TV schedule

The Heisman Trophy will be handed to one of three finalists on Saturday night.

US PRESSWIRE

The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner will be announced on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. CT, live on ESPN from the Best Buy Theatre in Times Square in New York.

Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein is one of three finalists for the award, along with Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel and Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o. Klein enjoyed an incredible senior season, leading the Wildcats to an 11-1 record while putting up 37 total touchdowns passing and through the air.

Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o put together one of the more impressive defensive performances of the last decade, leading a top-ranked Irish defense with seven interceptions, four passes defensed and six games on the season with double-digit tackles.

The favorite for the award, however, is freshman sensation Johnny Manziel. The Aggies quarterback compiled 4,600 yards of total offense with 43 total touchdowns while taking Texas A&M on a surprising tear through the SEC.

Voting for the award is done by 870 members of the media as well as 57 former Heisman winners. The winner of a vote on ESPN will also receive one vote in the Heisman balloting.
