The Kansas State Wildcats bounced back from a halftime deficit to earn a 65-62 victory against the George Washington Colonials and improve to a 7-1 record.
At halftime, the Wildcats trailed 29-27, but made up for a poor shooting percentage by out-rebounding the Colonials. K-State accumulated 20 offensive rebounds, as the combination of Thomas Gipson and Rodney McGruder combined for 23 rebounds. George Washington made a higher percentage of field goals and 3-point attempts, but was afforded far fewer opportunities than Kansas State because of the domination inside.
Leading the scoring for the Wildcats was Angel Rodriguez as the guard tallied 17 points, five assists and three steals to compliment a double-double from McGruder. George Washington's Isaiah Armwood also finished with a double-double as he accumulated 12 points, 10 rebounds and seven blocks for the Colonials.
Kansas State has a tough challenge ahead as the next team on the schedule is No. 10 Gonzaga, while George Washington will look to avoid a third straight loss in a road trip to play Rutgers.
