Kansas State took an early advantage but had to survive a second-half charge by Texas A&M eventually holding on for a 76-70 win. The Wildcats led 44-33 at halftime before the Aggies outscored them 37-32 in the second half. Kansas State was able to keep them at arms length and captured their 20th win of the season in the progress.
Rodney McGruder scored 19 of his 26 points in the first half to lead the Wildcats. Jamar Samuels added 17 points and 11 rebounds and Angel Rodriguez finished with 13 points and five boards. The Wildcats hit 48 percent of their shots and benefited from hitting 18-22 free throws.
Elston Turner led the Aggies' charge in the second half finishing with a team-high 22 points on 8-9 shooting. David Loubeau added 13 points while Ray Turner and Dash Harris finished with 12 and 11 respectively.
