K-State's B.J. Finney On 2012 Rimington Trophy Watch List For Top Centers In College Football

Every year, the Rimington Trophy is given out to the top center in college football. Past winners include Maurkice Pouncey, Jake Grove, LeCharles Bentley and David Baas. David Molk of Michigan won the award last year and was drafted by the San Diego Chargers. Now B.J. Finney of Kansas State hopes to become the next winner, and he's included on the early watch list just released by the Rimington Trophy committee.

Finney is one of seven sophomores on the list, so it's likely a longshot for someone so young to win it. In fact, 21 players return from the list from last season, so those are likely the names to watch. In total, the committee releases 50 names year to year as the best in the country at the center position. Even the inclusion of Finney at such a young age is a major honor and testament to the interior of K-State's offensive line.

Other candidates from the Big 12 include James Fry of TCU, Ben Habern of Oklahoma and Joe Madsen of West Virginia.
