Kansas State's surprise win over the Oklahoma Sooners shook up the Big 12, which was expected to be Oklahoma's to win this season. A lot of outlets have had K-State as a dark horse to take it, and now they're up to being the favorites. AOL SportingNews put the Wildcats at the No. 1 spot in their latest Conference Power Rankings, leading a conference that is loaded with solid teams.
The reason K-State made the top of the list? The big wins that they've put together early:
It’s an easy call for us, based on K-State’s body of work. Its victory in Norman was by far the best W for any Big 12 team thus far. Its earlier 52-13 smackdown of Miami—which is 3-1 with a pair of ACC road wins—looks pretty terrific as well.
Only Kansas has a losing record in the conference right now, while seven different teams are undefeated entering conference play. The Wildcats are the only team at 4-0 with the only conference win so far -- other teams will begin their Big 12 play over the weekend.
