The No. 7 Kansas State Wildcats pulled away from the Kansas Jayhawks in the third quarter, and now hold a 49-16 lead. Wildcats running back John Hubert returned to the field after a second-quarter injury to rush for two touchdowns in the quarter.
Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein got the scoring started in the second half, finding Travis Tannahill for a 2-yard score less than five minutes into the quarter. Kansas was able to respond with a couple of points, tackling Hubert in the endzone one play after Jayhawks quarterback Dayne Crist was intercepted at the Kansas State 2-yard line. That seemingly gave Kansas some momentum, but that was taken away when Tre' Parmalee fumbled the ensuing free kick. Hubert scored on a 32-yard run on the next play.
Crist threw another interception just three plays into Kansas' next possession, and Hubert scored again just three plays later. Crist is 16-of-27 for 189 yards with a touchdown and three picks on the day. Meanwhile, Klein has completed seven of 14 passes for 129 yards and a couple of scores. He has also rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Backup quarterback Daniel Sams took over for Klein late in the quarter.
