Oklahoma vs. Mizzou: Gary Pinkel Is Winless Against The Sooners

Mizzou head coach Gary Pinkel is a career 0-6 against Oklahoma and the Tigers haven't beaten the Sooners since 1998.

Yeah, that's a long time.

Pinkel says he's not going to be talking to his players about the last few games, particularly the last one that saw the Sooners rack up 61 points on the Tigers.

"We don’t really go there. I don’t think that’s something we’ll talk about that much," Missouri coach Gary Pinkel said Monday. "It’s a new year, new players, different teams. We’re just focusing on preparing our best game."

But....

"If you want to talk in the same sentence as Oklahoma, you’ve got to be able to beat them," Pinkel said.

Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops, undefeated against Mizzou, says what's happened in the past

doesn't matter.

"Just because somebody's done something in the past never guarantees it. And we've had some runs on some other people. And I've always said each year is its own. You have to earn it in its own way, its own right. So that's how we look at it. What is past is past and all that matters to us is what's coming here in several days."

This year the Mizzou defense is better than what I remember seeing in some time. The big, bad Sooners can be beat. Mizzou just has to prove it.
