Mizzou Will See A Hesiman Candidate In Taylor Martinez Of Nebraska

Mizzou will get a chance to face one of college football's best next week. The Tigers travel to Lincoln to face the Huskers and more specifically QB Taylor Martinez, a Heisman Trophy candidate.

In fact, according to Sports Illustrated he's the No. 5 Heisman candidate this week after jumping up from No. 8 last week.

Season: 66-of-111 passing for 1,046 yards, 14 TDs and five INTs; 100 rushes for 870 yards and 12 TDs.

Yep, he can throw, too. T-Magic obliterated Eric Crouch's Nebraska record of 193 passing yards by a freshman, and after totaling three passing TDs in the first six games, he matched that number by halftime and finished with five. Martinez delivered with his legs as well, recording his fifth 100-yard rushing game. It looks like he rebounded just in time for a huge Big 12 North showdown with Missouri.
This is good and bad for Mizzou. It's good because their defensive target is easily identified. It's bad because, well, Martinez is really freakin' good.
