The Kansas Jayahwks and Missouri Tigers will meet this weekend for yet another edition of the Border War at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo. The Tigers are clearly the favorite -- Vegas says by as much as 25 -- and they should win barring a major upset.
However, this game does feel similar to the Jayhawks Week 2 upset victory over then-No. 15 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
Kansas was coming off of a very disappointing loss to North Dakota State at the time and head coach Turner Gill was announcing that former starting QB Kale Pick was out and new starting QB Jordan Webb is in. This time around the circumstances are similar as Gill has announced that QB Quinn Mecham is not starting this weekend and it will be Webb starting.
The Missouri Tigers are also ranked No. 15 in the AP poll -- just like Georgia Tech was that week when KU upset them. That should show you that Kansas isn't going to necessarily back down against the Tigers just because they're ranked well.
After that...there aren't many similarities. The Tigers are a better team than the Yellow Jackets were at that time so I don't see a Kansas upset coming. But, as I've said before, this is a rivalry game. It's hard to predict these things and you never know how emotion is going to affect the game.
The line on this game is huge but I am leaning towards this being a close game, rather than a blowout.
