The Missouri Tigers were favored over the Oklahoma Sooners by 15 points and they did even better than that in the final score. Missouri beat Oklahoma, 84-61, at Mizzou Arena on Saturday afternoon.
What we'll remember from this game is Mizzou forward Laurence Bowers accidentally elbowing guard Marcus Denmon in the face. Denmon dropped down with a lot of blood running down his face. His eye later looked to be swelling up. It was one of the uglier elbows we've seen. We're waiting to hear what exactly he hurt but broken nose or even concussion is possible.
Denmon left the game in the second half and didn't return.
As for the game itself, Michael Dixon hit five three pointers leading the Tigers in scoring with 16 points. Justin Safford had a solid day with 11 points and six boards and Ricardo Ratliffe added 13 points. Other than the incidental elbow to Denmon, Bowers added eight points and nine rebounds in a nice outing.
Missouri moves to 19-6 on the season and 5-5 in the Big 12. Missouri has another home game coming up against Texas Tech on February 15.
