2011 NFL Draft: Blaine Gabbert As No. 1 Pick Gaining Stream

Missouri Tigers QB Blaine Gabbert is one of the top two quarterbacks in the 2011 NFL draft along with Auburn QB Cam Newton. We've seen mock drafts with both players going No. 1 overall to the Carolina Panthers, as well as others like DT Marcell Dareus.

There do seem to be more folks lately putting Gabbert at the No. 1 spot. ESPN's Adam Schefter is one of the best in the business and his prediction is...

It's only March 16, and the winds will change again, but my pick to be next month's No. 1 pick is...Missouri QB Blaine Gabbert.

That's a good sign for Gabbert. Schefter doesn't guess on this sort of stuff -- well, it's all a guess but he makes educated guesses. That must be the scuttlebutt around the league right now.

One interesting scenario with the draft involves the rookie wage scale. If something like that is implemented, then it becomes much more realistic to trade the top pick. The position most would trade up for is quarterback, which would likely be Gabbert or Newton.

The question now is: will Gabbert show up to Radio City Music Hall or go to the NFLPA draft event?
