NCAA Tournament Bracket: Cincinnati Basketball Hangs On, Beats Mizzou

It's over.

The Missouri Tigers lost to the Cincinnati Bearcats in the opening game of the 2011 NCAA tournament bracket. Mizzou seemed capable of hanging with Cincinnati early on but the Bearcats pulled away midway through the first half and never looked back.

At one point with less than 10 minutes remaining in the second half Mizzou got to within six but that was as close as they'd get and Cincinnati ended their dream -- 78-63.

Ricardo Ratliffe and Laurence Bowers had decent games combining for 23 points and 10 boards but the real story was Marcus Denmon. Mizzou needed him to have a big game and he came out a little flat ending the game shooting 3-of-11 from the field and scoring 10 points.

Missouri shot 38 percent from the field on the game and hit just five of their last 24 shots.

For Cincinnati, Yancy Gates and Dion Dixon were the big scorers with 18 and 16 points, respectively, and combined for 17 rebounds.

So the Tigers season is over.
