The story last week with Mike Anderson seemed to drag on and on for several days with no end in sight before he finally decided to jump ship to Arkansas. That won't be the case with Mizzou's pursuit of Matt Painter.
Early reports said the Tigers wanted to pick their next head coach before the Final Four this weekend and, according to Bernie Miklasz of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Mizzou AD Mike Alden has given Painter a noon deadline on Wednesday to make his decision.
Missouri met with Painter on Tuesday and it's been reported that Painter has done his due diligence on the Missouri job as he determines whether he'll take it.
We're not sure on specifics but it's believed that Purdue has come up with a sizable raise for Painter should he decide to stay. Mizzou may choose to top that offer if that's the case but obviously that's all hearsay at this point.
So Wednesday is the big day for Painter to decide on his future. One fan base will be very happy and one won't be so happy. Only a few more hours...
