Blaine Gabbert To Cincinnati Bengals In 2011 NFL Mock Drafts

Blaine Gabbert to the Cincinnati Bengals makes some sense.

If you haven't paid attention to the NFL since the season ended, then you may not know that QB Carson Palmer wants out of Cincinnati. In fact, he says he won't ever play for the Bengals again. That means, if he's right about that, the Bengals need a quarterback and need one bad.

Enter Gabbert. SB Nation's latest 2011 NFL mock draft has him landing in Cincy with the fourth pick.

Carson Palmer's continued insistence, through various media leaks, that he's done in Cincinnati will likely force the Bengals' hand here if either Newton or Gabbert is available. In either case, Cincinnati would likely target a veteran while the rookie grooms - just as they did with Palmer.

Do they go with the early quarterback again? It was just 2003 that they used the No. 1 overall pick on Palmer. They went to the playoffs just twice in his tenure but he wasn't viewed as the problem very often so I'd say they hit on him. That tells me that the Bengals may be tempted to take Gabbert if they got it right on their last quarterback. That's just a guess, though.

Blaine Gabbert to Cincinnati? It makes sense but considering the state of the Bengals franchise I don't think it would be the best case scenario for him.
