Frank Haith To Missouri Is Official

The Missouri Tigers have a new men's basketball coach. On Monday night, Mizzou AD Mike Alden met with the Missouri Board of Curators where a contract for Frank Haith was approved. Haith is coming from Miami and his name isn't very well known among Mizzou fans.

Haith will be formally introduced at Mizzou Arena on Tuesday morning around 10:00 a.m. It'll be interesting to see the turnout and the response because, at least on the internet, the response has been negative. Expectations were raised and Haith's name doesn't live up to them yet.

According to Mike DeArmond of the KC Star, the contract runs five years and will average about $1.5 million per year. For a comparison, Mike Anderson was making about $1.55 million per year, and Alden was reportedly willing to go as high as $2.3 million per year during the Matt Painter chase. That got Mizzou fans' hopes up in a big way. So when Haith was confirmed as the next coach, there was a large disappointment from the fan base. Mizzou fans thought the pursuit of Painter and a $2+ million salary put them at a different level when it comes to coaches.

We'll see how it all goes but Haith is already working from the bottom up.
