Jeff Capel To Missouri? Report Says It's Happening

The Missouri Tigers made official the hiring of Frank Haith from Miami on Monday evening when the Missouri Board of Curators approved a five-year contract. Bryan Burwell of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch wrote a story on Mizzou's hire and buried at the bottom of the story in the second-to-last paragraph is this nugget:

Several sources say that he is going to bring former Oklahoma coach Jeff Capel along as his top assistant. Capel has a good reputation in the business for his bench work and X's and O's.

Capel was fired in March after five seasons at Oklahoma.

The knock on Haith -- besides many Mizzou fans not even knowing who he was -- is that he's not a great in-game manager. He's a good guy, he can recruit and people generally like him but his in-game coaching skills could be polished. Bringing Capel in could potentially help with that. Sometimes the best thing a coach can know is what he doesn't know.
