How Does Tyler Gabbert Leaving Shape The Quarterback Situation?

Even though Tyler Gabbert was listed second on the Tigers depth chart heading into the summer workout program, he wasn't that far behind 6'2" 225 lb sophomore James Franklin. The situation was very fluid and as often as it changed in spring ball, it wasn't clear-cut that Franklin has a stranglehold on the starting job.

In MU's annual spring game on April 16th, Franklin did have the best day of the duo, hitting 13-of-21 passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, the redshirt freshman Gabbert struggled, completing just 8-for-22 passes 48 yards. Gabbert had no touchdowns and one interception.

The only other quarterbacks currently listed on the roster are a pair of redshirt sophomores in Arkansas native, Ashton Glaser (who likely moves into the backup role) and Lebanon, Missouri's Ryan Howerton. Lee's Summit High's Corbin Berkstresser will be joining the team this summer as an incoming freshman.
